Position Summary

The Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating janitorial services at an assigned commercial location. This role focuses primarily on supervision, quality control, and ensuring cleaning staff meet performance standards.

The ideal candidate is experienced, professional, energetic, and able to lead a team while ensuring the site remains compliant with cleaning and safety standards.


Duties & Responsibilities

Supervision & Oversight

  • Supervise janitorial staff and ensure daily cleaning tasks are completed properly.

  • Monitor employee performance and ensure work is completed according to company standards.

  • Provide guidance, direction, and support to the team as needed.

  • Ensure proper coverage and staffing levels for the shift.

  • Report issues, incidents, and staffing concerns to management.

Quality Control & Compliance

  • Conduct routine inspections of restrooms, offices, common areas, and assigned spaces.

  • Ensure all cleaning and sanitizing standards are consistently met.

  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures and company policies.

  • Maintain accurate records as required.

Supplies, Equipment & Inventory

  • Ensure restrooms and supply areas are properly stocked (paper products, soaps, etc.).

  • Monitor inventory levels and report supply needs.

  • Ensure cleaning equipment is properly maintained and stored (floor machines, carpet machines, buffers, etc.).

  • Monitor equipment condition and report repair or replacement needs.

Project Work / Specialty Cleaning

  • Lead and support special cleaning projects such as stripping, waxing, buffing, and carpet machine operations.

  • Ensure proper use of floor machines, carpet extractors, and other equipment as required.

  • Train and guide staff on proper techniques when needed.

Snow Removal

  • Support and oversee snow removal activities as required to maintain safe site conditions.

Additional Support

  • Provide limited assistance with cleaning duties only when necessary (e.g., staffing shortages or emergencies), in accordance with union rules.

  • High cleaning may be required as needed (training provided).


Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred

  • Detail-oriented, professional, and able to maintain confidentiality

  • Ability to read, write, and speak English

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds

  • Must be able to stand for long periods and perform bending, reaching, lifting, and pulling as needed

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident

  • Experience using floor machines, carpet machines, and related janitorial equipment is preferred.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously

  • Strong leadership and team supervision skills

  • Self-direction, tact, diplomacy, and professionalism when dealing with staff and the public

  • Ability to maintain a clear, courteous, and professional manner at all times

  • Knowledge of stripping, waxing, buffing, and floor care procedures is preferred.
