ENGLISH LEARNER (EL) INTERVENTIONIST



DEPARTMENT: English Learner


BARGAINING UNIT: Union Groups


WAGE: Compensation is determined by a structured salary schedule. The starting salary is based on the candidate’s degree level and verified years of licensed or certificated experience.


DIRECT SUPERVISOR: Chief Area Instructional Leader (Quadrant)

This is a grant-funded, non-tenured position.
Continued employment under the terms of this grant is continued upon continued funding.


 


JOB SUMMARY


Under the supervision of the English Learner (EL) Executive Director, the EL Interventionist is responsible for providing targeted academic second language and grade level supports to eligible EL scholars in all core content areas at GRPS.


 


QUALIFICATIONS


Required Education and Experience:



  • ESL/Bilingual Spanish endorsement or Masters in TESOL


 


Preferred:



  • Valid Michigan teacher’s certificate

  •  SIOP Training

  • Provide and deliver academic support services to eligible EL scholars

  • Manage and maintain accurate scholar records

  • Visit with identified scholars to identify suitable options and help resolve problems.

  • Develop a positive relationship with scholars and school community and maintain constructive relationships with staff, scholars, and administration.

  • Interact with co-workers, administration, and scholars in cooperative, supportive, and positive ways.

  • Participate in district led EL PD (WIDA/ SIOP).

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Consistently demonstrate dependable attendance and punctuality

  • Perform other duties as assigned
