Description

As a key member of our surgical team, the Surgical Tech / Oral Surgery Assistant will prepare patients for oral surgeries, assist the surgeon during procedures, and handle sterilization and post-operative responsibilities. This role requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to remain calm under pressure. The ideal candidate thrives in a team environment and maintains a strong focus on patient care and surgical excellence.

 

Schedule:

Saturdays: 8:00 am - 4:00 pm

Mondays (first and third of each month): 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

 

This position will be considered casual/part-time to align with the Oral Surgery schedule.

Requirements

  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Dental Assistant with surgical experience
  • CPR/BLS certification
  • Experience with IV sedation procedures preferred
  • Knowledge of dental software systems (e.g., Dentrix, Eaglesoft) is a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Summary

The Surgical Tech / Oral Surgery Assistant supports the oral surgical team by assisting with clinical
procedures, preparing and maintaining surgical equipment, and ensuring a safe, clean, and efficient
environment for patients. This dual-role position plays an integral part in delivering exceptional patient
care and maintaining the highest standards of safety and compliance in a fast-paced oral surgery
practice.

 

  • Prepare surgical operatory and equipment according to procedural requirements
  • Assist oral surgeon with chairside support during surgical procedures including extractions,
    implants, biopsies, and sedation cases
  • Maintain aseptic and sterile techniques throughout all procedures
  • Monitor patient comfort and vital signs during procedures (if certified)
  • Handle surgical instruments, suction devices, and irrigation during surgery
  • Clean, disinfect, and sterilize instruments and treatment areas according to OSHA standards
  • Document patient charts accurately and timely, including pre- and post-operative notes
  • Provide pre-operative and post-operative care instructions to patients and caregivers
  • Order, stock, and track inventory of surgical supplies and materials
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and clinic protocols
