Job Description

Job Title: Adjunct Professor of Health and Human Performance


Reporting Relationship: Chair, Health and Human Performance


Unit: IWU - Marion


Department: School of Nursing


Campus Location: Recreation & Wellness Center - Marion, IN





Summary of Position:    Adjunct faculty are essential to providing a quality academic experience for Indiana Wesleyan University students. Adjuncts will employ a range of engaging teaching strategies designed to foster student learning and stimulate class discussion. Applicants must have appropriate academic or professional experience within the given academic discipline, demonstrate a passion for teaching and learning, and be able to integrate their Christian faith into the classroom content.


Duties and Responsibilities



  • Attend and lead all required class sessions

  • Promptly assess student coursework and submit via the university’s learning management system 

  • Coordinate with Division Chair and/or Academic Dean regarding classroom or student issues in a timely manner

  • Provide input into course curriculum, as appropriate 


Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.






Education



  • Candidates will ideally hold a graduate degree in the field of athletic training, exercise science, physical education and/ or recreation/ sports management

  • Substantial professional experience within the content area to be taught may be considered in lieu of a masters’ degree


Experience



  • Candidates must demonstrate a record of teaching, scholarship, service, and dedication to the ideals of liberal learning

  • Articulation of an educational philosophy on the centrality of Jesus Christ with the intention to integrate their faith with learning is imperative


Required Skills



  • Candidates will possess skills in effective oral and written communication and pedagogy; creativity and critical-analytical thinking; curriculum design and development; instructional technology; organization and planning; time management; and interpersonal interaction
