Job Description

We are seeking a highly safe and dependable Mill Maintenance Mechanic to support a large copper mine and inspect, troubleshoot, repair and maintain machinery and structural parts in the Concentrator.

Essential Functions:

  • Systems, crushers, ball mills, semi-autogenous mills, screen decks, compressors, filter drums, horizontal and vertical centrifugal pumps, flotation, classifiers and lubrication systems
  • Perform mechanical and lubrication preventative maintenance: Identify potential failures/ noises / wear on agitators, rotors, belts, pulleys, and gear boxes
  • Prioritize and make decisions regarding equipment repair as needed
  • Performs welding (Stick, Tig) as part of maintenance/repairs
  • May operate equipment such as: Forklifts, overhead cranes, pneumatic air tools, and small mobile equipment
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work area and performing work area inspections
  • Experience working on gear/shaft alignments
  • Maintenance and repair of large conveyors in concentrator environment.
  • Willingness and ability to work rotating shifts in a 24/7/365 operation

Additional Duties:

  • Other tasks as may be required to maintain mechanical operations.
  • Act as a Fill-in Supervisor as needed
  • Train and mentor other employees

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures in English
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
  • Ability read and use schematics and blue prints
  • Time management skills
  • Requires manual dexterity in the use of hand tools.

Education & Experience:

  • Must have high school diploma or GED.
  • Two (2) years' experience in Mill mechanical/maintenance or a combination of education and experience in industrial mechanical repair and maintenance
  • Previous experience operating larger than twenty (20) ton mobile crane
  • Certified in welding (MIG, TIG, Stick, Arc)

Physical and Environmental Requirements:

  • Standing, bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, pushing, pulling, carrying and moving items of up to 50 lbs and more
  • Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions; dusty, hot weather
  • Ability to perform essential job functions in an environment with varied noise levels
  • The job requires training or instruction in the area of environmental Awareness.
  • This job requires training or instruction in the area of Safety & Health awareness including completion of the appropriate OSHA and/or MSHA training.
