Role Purpose
The Finance Data Scientist operates at the intersection of advanced analytics, finance domain expertise, and business decision‑making.
The role focuses on designing, developing, maintaining, and enhancing machine‑learning‑driven finance reporting solutions, while translating complex analytical concepts into clear, reliable, and trusted financial insights for business stakeholders.
This position requires strong PMI finance acumen, deep technical expertise in data science, and the ability to collaborate effectively across Finance, Reporting, and Analytics teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a Data Scientist within the Finance domain, applying advanced analytics and machine learning techniques to Finance Reporting Solutions.
- Translate business and finance requirements into end‑to‑end technical use cases, data models, and analytical solutions, including the development of new analytics and ML use cases.
- Deliver high‑quality data science outputs aligned with agreed standards, while providing clear insights, interpretation, and business context to build trust in analytical solutions.
- Maintain, enhance, and refresh BI dashboards (e.g. Power BI) powered by ML solutions, including volume forecasting and financial projections.
- Partner closely with Finance stakeholders, explaining complex technical concepts in clear, business‑friendly language to enable data‑driven decision‑making.
- Support governance processes and quality assurance for analytics solutions used in Finance reporting.
- Collaborate effectively within the Finance Reporting Solutions team and across cross‑functional initiatives spanning Finance, Advanced Analytics, IT, and Data platforms.
- Demonstrate strong problem‑solving, collaboration, and critical‑thinking skills, contributing to company transformation through motivation, transparency, trust, and a shared purpose.
Who Are We Looking For?
- Degree in Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Finance (with strong analytics/programming exposure), or a related field.
- Strong programming skills in Python and SQL, with experience in software versioning (Git) and testing practices (unit and integration testing).
- Solid foundation in statistics and probability, with hands‑on experience applying core data science methods, including classification, regression, clustering, and ranking.
- Strong data management and data wrangling skills, including handling large datasets and performing data cleaning using Python libraries such as pandas, numpy, scipy, and related tools.
- Experience working with BI tools (e.g. Power BI), particularly dashboards powered by machine‑learning or advanced analytics outputs (Power BI considered a strong plus).
- Experience working with Snowflake, including the creation of data ingestion pipelines (strong plus).
- Proven experience as a Data Scientist in a Finance or business‑critical domain, with strong PMI finance acumen and understanding of financial planning, controlling, and reporting concepts (strong advantage).
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical solutions and assumptions to non‑technical stakeholders, present insights in a structured way, and work effectively in cross‑functional and global teams.
- Strong ownership mindset, with attention to quality, consistency, reliability, and trustworthiness of analytics outputs.
What You’ll Be Part Of
You will join the Finance Advanced Analytics / Finance Reporting Solutions team — a global analytics community leveraging Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence to enhance Finance decision‑making.
The team bridges advanced data science with practical business application, delivering ML‑enabled Power BI solutions such as volume forecasts and market insights, with a strong emphasis on transparency, explainability, and business trust.
In this role, you will work on production‑grade ML solutions used across markets, directly influencing Finance reporting quality and decision‑making. You will help build trust through strong financial storytelling and contribute to the development of new Finance analytics use cases within a growing global capability.
