Job Description

Position Summary

BGI is seeking full-time and part-time F-35 Pilot Subject Matter Experts (SME) at various locations throughout the F-35 Enterprise which includes CONUS and OCONUS. These locations include:  Montgomery, AL, NAS JRB Ft Worth, TX, NAS Lemoore and Edwards AFB, CA, Madison, WI, Eglin AFB, FL, Ghedi AB and Amendola Airbase, Italy, MCAS Iwakuni and Misawa AFB, Japan, Burlington, VT, MCAS Cherry Pt, NC, MCAS Beaufort, Eielson AFB, AK, Hill AFB, UT, Luke AFB and MCAS Yuma, AZ, MCAS Miramar, CA. Duties include providing training to F-35 pilots in flight procedures, emergency procedures and tactical employment techniques in the F-35 Full Mission Simulator. Candidate acts as a subject matter expert by applying advanced technical concepts in the area of aviation and provides assistance in creation of training material and mission scenarios. Assists in the preparation of schedules, training plans, required documentation and interface with the pilot customers. This position is sub-contacted by Lockheed Martin (LM), so candidate will implement and support Lockheed Martin initiatives, programs and policies, as directed. This position is normally filled by a fighter instructor pilot, but back-seat fighter experience is considered for certain positions. These positions are available as government contracts are finalized during the 2024-2025 timeframe. Candidate would be expected to receive 4-5 months of F-35 and simulator training at Eglin or Luke AFB or MCAS Beaufort starting as soon as June 2024 time frame if not a current and qualified F-35 pilot. Part-time availability is contingent upon LM approval at each location. Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct quality aircrew training device operation, accomplish applicable mission objectives and           
  • requirements, and adhere to published wing standards
  • Maintain weapons system expertise
  • Prepare briefing rooms for a flight brief before the scheduled training device mission
  •  Clean-up brief/debrief rooms, returning them to their pre-mission condition
  • Evaluate and record training device issues and pilot feedback of mission conduct and control
  • Conduct remedial student academic or aircrew training device instruction when required
  • Conduct student academic evaluations IAW applicable syllabi and correct to 100% by reviewing incorrect responses with students
  • Support aircrew training device scenario design and programming efforts when directed by the Lead Instructor
  • Conduct flight briefings and debriefings for student missions utilizing the F-35 Full Mission Simulator
  • Operate the Instructor Operator Station to facilitate student training on a F-35 Full Mission Simulator
  • Review monthly/quarterly flying literature, safety reports and Service publications for updated information to be incorporated into training materials
  • Perform related additional duties as assigned by the Site Director or applicable manager

 

Education, Credential Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 14 years or more of professional experience; or 12 years of professional experience with a related Master’s degree. 

Experience: 

  • Operational Instructor Pilot (IP) experience (required)
  • Candidate must have a minimum of 1000 hours Fighter Flight Time in fourth and/or fifth generation fighter aircraft (desired)
  • Considered an expert, authority in discipline

Special Knowledge and Skills: 

  • Must have an active secret clearance with a completed investigation within the last 6 years or be enrolled in Continuous Evaluation. 
  • Must be qualified to obtain a SAP clearance
