Job Description

SUMMARY



In accordance with RNP’s Mission Statement, Philosophy of Client Care, and Code of Ethics as stated in the Personnel Policies, and under the supervision of the Department Director, the Cook will provide food services to the clients located at Horizons.



 



 



HOURS: Saturday & Sunday 5:00 am - 6:00 pm 



 



 



CORE FUNCTIONS




  • Create recipes and prepare preset menus.

  • Coordinate meal planning with the goal of promoting wellness.

  • Prepare a large quantity of entrees, vegetables, desserts according to preset menu.

  • Ensure quality is maintained and safety and sanitation guidelines are followed.

  • Order food supplies and control inventory.

  • Follow public health guidelines.

  • To the extent possible, honor dietary requests based on medical conditions and/or religious beliefs.

  • Follow menus prepared by the Registered Dietitian.

  • Assumes all other appropriate duties as deemed necessary by the Supervisor.



 



 



CORE COMPETENCIES



High School Diploma preferred.  Two (2) to five (5) years as a cook in a food service establishment.  




  • Some knowledge of co-occurring disorders and behavioral health care is preferred. 

  • Ability to stand for long hours. 

  • Training in food handling as required by the Department of Public Health. 

  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative professional relationships. 

  • Excellent communication skills. 

  • Ability to project a professional image.



 



 



CERTIFICATES, LICENSES



Incumbents may be required to secure professional certification. A valid Connecticut driver’s license may be required.
