The City of Lenexa is currently accepting applications for Swim Lessons Instructors for our Rec Center.

Schedule:

This position is currently in need of instructors on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 4:45PM - 7:30PM. Applicants will provide their availability (specific days and hours) during the application process, which will be reviewed as part of the hiring decision.

Position Summary:

The Swim Lessons Instructor leads group and private/semi-private swim lessons. This role involves instructing participants with adaptive teaching techniques, coordinating activities, assessing progress, and handling various administrative duties. The Swim Lesson Instructor will ensure a safe environment alongside the lifeguard team. Instructors will foster an engaging and inclusive learning space for all participants while providing excellent customer service.

Applicants will undergo training provided by the employer, including in-water and classroom education on swim instruction. Training dates and times will be provided to the applicant during the interview process.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be at least 15 years of age.
• Understanding and ability to demonstrate the following strokes:
  
  • Side stroke
  • Butterfly (with minimal proficiency)
  • Breaststroke
  • Backstroke (back crawl)
  • Freestyle (front crawl)

Starting rate of pay is $16.50 per hour with annual raises.

Offers of employment are contingent upon successfully passing a drug screen. A background check is required for applicants aged 18 and older.
