    LENGTH:                         10-month, full-time position, 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
     

    SALARY:                         $23.92/hour

    DESCRIPTION:
    The Science Lab Clerical Aide is responsible for coordinating activities in the Science labs. The Aide procures materials, services and facilities necessary for science instruction. The Aide also ensures compliance with federal and state regulations to provide a safe operation. The Aide does related work as required.
     

    The work requires knowledge of science instruction, as well as excellent communication and administrative skills to assist with lab activities, maintain current materials, problem solve, and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Science labs. Working conditions include traveling and moving lab materials, culturing bacteria, and working with potentially hazardous chemicals.
     

    SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Prepares purchase orders for instructional materials, supplies and equipment.
    Prepares chemicals and organisms for Biology and Chemistry labs.
    Obtains bids and quotes in accordance with purchasing guidelines.
    Supervises the use, storage, and disposal of flammable, poisonous, corrosive, or other hazardous
      materials.
    Informs staff about potentially hazardous materials.
    Keeps up-to-date with state and federal policies regarding laboratory safety.
    Maintains the laboratory budget and equipment, anticipating future needs and expenses.
    Able to work extra hours, as needed.
    Other duties as assigned.
     

    REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS:
    Knowledge of and skill in using, storing, and disposing of chemicals and hazardous materials.
    Knowledge of federal and state safety laws.
    Proficient use of Google applications including sheets.
    Ability to prioritize and organize tasks.
    Ability to work independently.
    Skilled in science equipment maintenance.
    Ability to work with staff and students.
    Monitor and maintain budgets of multiple accounts.
    Post-high school laboratory experience or course work in lab-based science.
