Job Summary
A Welder/Press Operator processes welded product/finished goods by adding a date code to reflect when the product was manufactured. The Press Operator is also trained in Robotic Welding Operation. The welding team rotates positions throughout the week. The Operator labels, and weighs containers, and moves them to shipping. Reports any problems with work cell/product to supervisor. Uses ERP software and process paperwork, maintains work cell and ensures quality and production standards are met. Reports work results, priorities, progress, and other related activities to management, in the support of company initiatives, standards, policies, and overall continuous improvement.
Essential Job Functions
- Weld and/or form products based on bill of materials (BOM), work instructions and job travelers.
- Perform work in progress (WIP) inspection as required to achieve a quality product.
- Use of computers to report labor, print product labels, transfer inventory etc.
- Perform general machine maintenance i.e. oil changes, machine cleaning.
- Complete required paperwork, i.e. labor reports, scrap reports, etc.
- Notify the group leader of quality, machine, inventory issues, etc.
- Use of a shipping scale to weigh product being staged.
- Operate forklifts, reach trucks, counterbalance etc.
- Operate work cell to its fullest capability/capacity.
- Verify product conformance to specification(s).
- Operate welding and metal forming machines.
- Follow written and oral work instructions.
- Perform machine set up/changeover.
- Keep assigned areas neat and orderly.
- Subject to work scheduled overtime.
- Performs other related duties and projects as assigned.
Requirements
Physical Requirements
- Repetitive motions such as bending the neck, hands, arms, and back.
- Manual dexterity skills, good eye hand coordination, an eye for inspection.
- Workers are required to lift packages up to 50 pounds.
- Employees are required to use hand tools.
- 8+ hours of standing and walking.
Knowledge
- High school degree or equivalent.
- Certification in welding is preferred.
Experience
- Basic Computer skills, i.e. data entry, general knowledge (1-2 years).
- Operate basic hand tools i.e. air drives, wrenches, etc.
- Ability to problem solve.
- Welding (1-2 years).
Skills

- Read blueprints and use measuring tools (i.e. micrometer and calipers).
