- instruct and prepare students for both the written and clinical certification exams
- keep detailed records of student hours both in the classroom and at clinicals
- provide all necessary to the program director if they are not serving as program director themselves
- keep all necessary records for a NATCEP program audit
- work closely with our post-secondary partner to ensure that all requirements for the program are being met
- hold and maintain all nursing certification(s) required to be the course instructor
- work with district administration to ensure that all program needs are being communicated and provided for program compliance and student success

Primary Purpose:
The CNA Teacher would instruct students in CNA, nursing, and health science courses.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or equivalent
Bachelor's degree preferred
Texas Teacher Certification preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Be a licensed nurse in the state of Texas (RN preferred)
Have a minimum of one year of nursing experience in a facility
Have completed a course in teaching adults or have experience in teaching adults or supervising nurse aides
Work under the general direction of the program director or be the approved program director who meets the requirement
Either the program director or a program instructor must have at least one year of experience providing long term care services in a nursing facility.
If an instructor is an LVN, a NATCEP must have:

Lifting: May require regular heavy lifting (45 pounds or more) and positioning of students with physical disabilities, control behavior through physical restraint, assist nonambulatory students, and lift and move adaptive equipment; may work prolonged or irregular hours
Environment: Exposure to biological hazards; may require districtwide travel
Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress
This position requires availability for extended hours and involves diverse interactions within the district community.
