Job Description

Qualifications: 

  • Teaching Certificate or relevant experience.
  • Previous experience in color guard instruction. Experience in choreography and directing performances preferred.
  • Proficiency in color guard equipment (flags, rifles, sabers) and dance. Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills. Ability to inspire and motivate students.
  • Passion for performing arts education, creativity, patience, and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment.

Responsibilities & Duties: 

  • Design and implement a comprehensive color guard program, including choreography, training, and performance strategy.
  • Instruct students in flag, rifle, saber, and dance, providing both individual and group coaching to develop technique and performance quality.
  • Plan and lead regular practices while preparing and directing students for performances, competitions, and community events.
  • Create and teach routines that emphasize precision, creativity, and strong visual impact.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive team environment that promotes participation, discipline, and teamwork.
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, staff, and the community, and stay current with industry trends and professional development.

Terms of Employment: WUEA Schedule B position.
