Manufacturing Engineering Intern
OVERALL SUMMARY
Work closely with Manufacturing Engineers and Manufacturing to support and improve manufacturing operations.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Support data capture, creation, and updating of work instructions and work aids.
- Assist in data presentation and development of Elliott Training Program curriculum.
- Assist the Manufacturing Engineers with revisions and improvements to manufacturing methods and procedures, including writing change order requests and deviations.
- Help coordinate and optimize work center layouts to ensure safety and proper housekeeping efforts.
- Assist with setup and development of wire processing equipment for wire harness assembly. May include creation of wire cut lists, programs, and harness layouts/diagrams.
- Other duties as assigned by the area supervisor.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
- Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
- Ability to manage several projects simultaneously
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma, or equivalent
- Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, AeroSpace Engineering, Civil Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related degree area
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to squat, bend, and reach overhead
- Ability to push and pull up to 50 lbs
- Ability to climb up and down trucks
- Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential job functions of this job.
- Manufacturing Plant environment including but not limited to: high noise levels, high traffic of moving parts such as large steel unit pieces, moving forklifts, overhead crane usage, electrical shock hazard when working with wiring, and engine exhaust.
