Primary Responsibilities and Key Deliverables
- Assess work procedures and determine locations, relationships, or dimensions of parts.
- Follow blueprints or other specifications to assemble boilers, tanks, and vats.
- Examine boilers, pressure vessels, tanks, or vats to locate defects such as leaks, weak spots, or defective sections.
- Repair or replace broken or malfunctioning components of machinery and equipment.
- Install manholes, handholes, valves, gauges, and feedwater connections in drums of water tube boilers.
- Test and inspect boiler systems for leaks or defects.
- Follow safety guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Utilize hand and power tools, plumb bobs, levels, wedges, and turnbuckles.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Proficiency in welding, cutting, and brazing techniques. Ability to use hand and power tools effectively.
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical instructions.
- Excellent problem-solving skills to diagnose and repair boiler systems.
- High level of attention to detail to ensure precision in assembly and repairs.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects and working in confined spaces.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Good verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with team members and report issues.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing work environments and tasks.
