Test Engineer III
Overview
Tech(x) is seeking a Test Engineer III to support developmental and integration testing of complex DoD systems. This role requires a technically proficient professional capable of executing structured test methodologies, troubleshooting system-level issues, and supporting mission-critical environments.
This position is ideal for candidates with a hybrid background in network operations, systems troubleshooting, and technical support, including prior military communications or IT experience.
Responsibilities
- Participate in system requirements reviews and engineering design discussions to shape test strategies
- Develop and execute test plans, procedures, and test cases based on system requirements
- Perform functional, regression, and integration testing across hardware/software systems
- Support system installation, configuration, and troubleshooting in lab and operational environments
- Analyze system defects, document findings, and track resolution through ticketing/defect systems
- Conduct network-level and system-level diagnostics to isolate failures
- Utilize test instrumentation and system tools for data collection and validation
- Generate detailed test reports and technical documentation
- Support end-user test events and operational assessments
- Interface with developers, engineers, and government stakeholders
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Experience supporting test and evaluation, system validation, or IT/system troubleshooting environments
Ability to develop and execute test plans and procedures
Strong technical documentation and reporting skills
Experience troubleshooting hardware, software, and network systems
Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
Preferred Qualifications (in addition to the Qualifications)
- Experience in DoD or military network environments
- Familiarity with Linux, scripting, or log analysis
- Experience with test tools, ticketing systems, or defect tracking systems
- Background in network operations centers (NOC) or enterprise IT support
- CompTIA Security+ or similar certification
Clearance:
- Must have a current DoD Security Clearance; secret level or higher.
Education & Experience:
- A Bachelor’s degree in one (1) of the following: Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or related scientific or technical discipline.
- 4-9 years relevant work experience
- A degree can be substituted for 4 years of direct related experience.
Location:
- Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland.
- Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Travel:
- 10% possible travel.
