About Gender Solutions and Impact (GSI), Gender Department

The GSI is a provider of tested solutions to close gender gaps, through supporting cross-cutting operational approaches to development challenges, improving the evidence base for results, engaging in knowledge generation and capture, training and learning, monitoring corporate commitments and scaling up partnerships with private sector stakeholders for reach, relevance, and effectiveness of results. Scope of work

IFC seeks an experienced Gender Coordinator to provide on‑the‑ground coordination, leadership, and implementation support for IFC’s gender programs in India, Bangladesh and Bhutan. The role will ensure high‑quality delivery of advisory services, analytics, peer‑learning platforms, research, knowledge management and communications, in line with approved Implementation Plans and regional priorities. 
 
The role will require working in close coordination with Country Management Units, Industry Leads, and Project Teams, as well as external stakeholders, private sector clients, IBRD, and development finance institutions. The role will support the implementation of country gender projects that embed gender considerations into IFC’s investment and advisory operations, with a focus on mobilizing private sector solutions that contribute to the jobs agenda.
 
This role will be based in Mumbai, India and will report to the Gender Operations Officer for India with dotted line reporting to the Gender Operations Officer for Bangladesh and Bhutan. 

Roles and Responsibilities 

Specific duties and accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

A.  Project Coordination and Management

•  Coordinate day-to-day implementation of IFC gender projects in India with extended support in Bangladesh and Bhutan (as required).
•  Support scoping, design, and processing of new and follow-on gender projects.
•  Prepare internal and external progress reports for IFC management, donors, clients, and partners according to IFC standards and guidelines. 
•  Track project activities, outputs, outcomes, and indicators, and contribute to evaluation and impact assessment activities.  
•  Keep abreast of industry and subject-area developments and research to ensure that the India program continuously benefits from emerging best practices.
•  Cross support the region with any urgent priorities (case-by-case basis).  

B.  Country-Specific Deliverables

India – Key Deliverables
•  Coordinate delivery of the India Gender Collaborative peer learning platform, including endline survey analysis, closing ceremony logistics, and communication deliverables. 
•  Support the India Program Lead in execution of the India Country Program umbrella project and implementation of related child projects, as required. 
•  Manage gender flagging of investment and advisory engagements in collaboration with industry colleagues. 
•  Facilitate internal governance for project implementation, ensuring all required approvals (e.g., IDD, CoA, LCM) are secured prior to implementation. 
•  Ensure strong coordination with IBRD, MIGA, and other internal counterparts across IFC’s gender operations.
•  Support development of communications for internal and external stakeholders, as needed

Bangladesh and Bhutan– Key Deliverables
•  Support the IFC’s gender projects in the country. 
•  Support research, analytics activities, and partnership meetings 
•  Coordinate country-level internal stakeholder engagement and communication. 

C.  Client Advisory and Business Development

•  Support development and execution of business development strategies. 
•  Identify pipeline opportunities and support client engagement in India. 
•  Activities will include preparing pitch decks, conducting gender diagnostics, and implementation support depending on clients’ needs and priorities.
•  Manage relationships with local partners and consultants.

Selection Criteria

The candidate should have expertise in gender engagements in the private sector, preferably in developing/emerging markets. S/he should have experience in managing projects and integrating work of other (often multi-disciplinary) professional staff. S/he must be able to interact with clients, government officials, and staff from other organizations with confidence and a high degree of professionalism.

Minimum requirements:
•  At least seven (7) years of relevant experience in development project management and implementation, preferably in gender, jobs, private sector development, or related advisory and investment support roles.
•  Master’s degree or equivalent in business, economics, development studies, gender studies, sociology/anthropology, or another relevant discipline.
•  Demonstrated experience at the intersection of gender and private sector development, with a strong understanding of business drivers and practical experience engaging with private sector firms, at least in one of the South Asian countries. 
•  Ability to establish professional networks within the Indian business community; experience engaging with employers, business associations, and financial institutions is an asset.
•  Strong interpersonal and stakeholder‑management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across internal teams and external partners in a fast‑paced, multicultural environment.
•  Highly collaborative, proactive, and solution-oriented, with the ability to adapt to the systems, processes, and pace of a large development finance institution and to deliver results with a strong focus on business value and development impact.
•  Proven project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously, meet tight deadlines, and produce high‑quality outputs under time pressure.
•  Demonstrated professionalism, including sound judgment, discretion, and the ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
•  Sufficient confidence and assertiveness to manage consultants and navigate complex administrative and approval processes.
•  Strong attention to detail, with high standards for documentation, reporting, and record keeping.
•  Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Hindi required.
•  Strong computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
•  Ability to work independently with limited supervision, and willingness to learn and navigate IFC internal systems, standards, and procedures.
