Job Title: Residential HVAC Install Apprentice

Job Summary
The Residential HVAC Install Apprentice assists experienced technicians in the installation of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems in residential homes. This entry-level position is designed for individuals looking to start a career in the HVAC trade and gain hands-on experience while learning industry standards, safety practices, and installation techniques.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the installation of HVAC systems, including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, and ductwork
  • Carry and move equipment, tools, and materials to job sites
  • Help measure, cut, and assemble ductwork and piping
  • Support system startup and basic testing under supervision
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment
  • Follow all safety procedures and company policies
  • Communicate effectively with team members and homeowners when appropriate
  • Attend training sessions and actively learn HVAC installation skills

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Interest in learning the HVAC trade
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to work with tools
  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
  • Valid driver’s license (often required)
  • Ability to pass background check and/or drug screening (varies by employer)

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds regularly
  • Comfortable working in confined spaces (attics, crawl spaces)
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions
  • Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, and climbing

Preferred (but Not Required)

  • Enrollment in or completion of an HVAC training program
  • Basic knowledge of hand and power tools
  • EPA 608 certification (or willingness to obtain)
