Job Description

About the Department

Summary 
Serves as the American Heart Association (AHA) Training Center Coordinator. Provides coordination, scheduling, oversight, and instruction as needed for Fire Department EMT Level Continuing Education. Employees in this position perform instructional work. This position will report directly to Dean of EMS.

Position Duties

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Serves as the American Heart Association (AHA) Training Center Coordinator.
  • Manages affiliated training sites and instructors.
  • Responsible for managing instructor updates as needed when issued from AHA. 
  • Responsible for conducting instructor renewal courses on a biannual basis 
  • Responsible for conducting AHA initial instructor courses as needed 
  • Provides excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Communicates effectively with stakeholders.   
  • Greets customers as necessary and provides information to students. 
  • Uses appropriate software, develops, transcribes, assembles and disseminates information.
  • Maintains instructor database and keeps instructor files current.
  • Organizes and builds courses in Enrollware Software. Utilizes the Enrollware Software system to process invoices, requisitions, and expenses.
  • Oversees management of AHA online content, distribution of promotional materials, and vendors/contractors/staff communication.
  • Distributes course completion cards and exams provided to training sites, instructors, and individual students through Enrollware and/or Atlas 
  • Responsible for creating, revising, and implementing operating practices, recordkeeping systems, forms control, and personnel requirements and implementing changes as appropriate.
  • Maintains a complex filing system and processes confidential information.
  • Maintains supply inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies in collaboration with the administrative assistant.
  • Edits, proofreads and compiles appropriate reports
  • Responsible for ensuring manikin integrity, infection prevention, and the availability of resource materials.
  • Responsible for scheduling and oversight of in-county Fire Department EMS Continuing Education
  • Responsible for teaching in-county Fire Department EMS Continuing Education courses as needed 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education Minimum: High School Graduate; NCOEMS Level I EMT Instructor

Education Preferred: Associate's degree with course work emphasis in business or office administration; NCOEMS Level II EMT Instructor

Experience Minimum: One to three years of experience in AHA and/or EMS education; One to three years of experience in an administrative office environment.

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
               
Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Any certifications or license a plus.

Computer Skills
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Publisher.
  • Ability to use online, web-based technology to submit related training documents.
  • Ability to use online LMS platform such as Blackboard or similar to coordinate online training
