Position Title: 3rd Grade Math & Science Teacher
Location: Holly Harshman Elementary School
Reports To: Building Principal
Contract: 190 Days
Position Summary
The 3rd Grade Math and Science Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality, standards-aligned instruction that builds strong foundational skills in mathematics and scientific thinking. This position requires a teacher who can establish and maintain a structured, engaging classroom environment while collaborating closely with grade-level peers to ensure consistency in instruction, assessment, and student outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Curriculum
- Deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction in mathematics and science
- Use district curriculum and pacing guides to ensure alignment to grade-level expectations
- Plan and implement lessons that promote problem-solving, critical thinking, and student engagement
- Adjust instruction based on student needs using formative and summative assessment data
Classroom Management
- Establish and maintain clear expectations, routines, and procedures that maximize instructional time
- Create a structured, positive, and well-managed classroom environment
- Consistently implement proactive behavior management strategies
- Build strong relationships with students while maintaining high expectations for behavior and learning
Collaboration & Teaming
- Work collaboratively with 3rd grade team members to plan instruction and assessments
- Engage in regular data analysis to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
- Contribute to a cohesive and aligned grade-level approach to teaching and learning
- Seek and apply feedback from instructional leaders and peers
Assessment & Data Use
- Use student data to drive instructional decisions and interventions
- Participate in team data meetings and contribute to action planning
- Monitor student growth and communicate progress with stakeholders
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education
- Valid state teaching certification in Elementary Education
- Demonstrated knowledge of elementary math instruction and standards
- Strong classroom management skills with evidence of effective implementation
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and contribute to a team-focused environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching elementary math and/or science
- Experience using data to inform instruction and improve student outcomes
- Familiarity with standards-based instruction and curriculum alignment practices
