Job Description

Primary Purpose:


The Learning Leader for Accountability, Assessment & School Improvement will provide ongoing support for the districts in Region 16, focusing on state testing, TEA testing platforms, support for campuses required to engage in School Improvement interventions, and collaboration in the development and delivery of high-quality School Support Services.


 


Qualifications:


 


Education/Certification



  • Master's degree required

  • Texas teacher certification required

  • Texas principal certification preferred


Skills



  • Minimum of 2 years successful principal experience preferred

  • Experience appraising teachers and support staff preferred

  • Central Office experience preferred

  • Assistant principal experience preferred

  • Campus Testing Coordinator experience preferred

  • District Testing Coordinator experience preferred

  • Knowledge of the Effective Schools Framework preferred

  • Knowledge of: Coaching, modeling, and providing feedback on performance, with an emphasis on identifying and problem-solving through implementation barriers across wide and diverse circumstances; In-depth knowledge of instructional leadership practices that lead to improved teaching and learning; In-depth knowledge of data-driven practices, lesson planning and formative assessment, observation and feedback, school culture, and change management; Knowledge of district practices that impede as well as empower leadership; the accountability system and the necessary actions and measurable progress required to meet state standards.

  • Skill in: Long-term planning and project management, tracking progress, analytical thinking, conceptual thinking, effective communication, root cause analysis; Adult learning and professional development design and delivery.

  • Ability to: Connect with diverse audiences and understand complex and unique circumstances in order to support growth among individuals and across districts; Set challenging goals and reach a high standard of performance despite barriers demonstrate initiative and persistence in doing more than is expected or required in order to accomplish a challenging task; Set clear expectations and hold others accountable for performance; Act with a purpose that impacts and positively influences the perceptions, thinking, and actions of others; Assume leadership of a group for the benefit of the organization; Develop others through coaching, modeling, and providing feedback on performance.


Working Conditions:



  • Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals

  • Posture: Must be physically able to tolerate prolonged sitting, frequent standing; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, twisting, and standing

  • Motion: Must be physically able to tolerate frequent standing and walking, repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching, occasional driving

  • Lifting: Must be physically able to tolerate regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may require occasional heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds or more)

  • Environment: Must be physically able to work inside; tolerate frequent districtwide travel and occasional statewide travel; regular exposure to noise

  • Mental Demands: Must be able to work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours on occasion

  • Regular Attendance is an essential function


Major Responsibilities and Duties:



  1. Provides ongoing support for the districts in Region  in the PLC Cycle, state testing, district assessment schedules, and TEA testing platforms

  2. Assists the director in budgeting, program planning, and program/staff evaluation

  3. Collaborates with all members of the Leadership and Instructional Foundations for Texas (LIFT) Team

  4. Communicates effectively to provide up-to-date information to district/campus personnel regarding developments, initiatives, and priorities at the state and federal level

  5. Assists district/campus personnel in improving student performance

  6. Assists districts with comprehensive needs assessments and Effective School Framework diagnostics based on student performance data to determine leadership, teacher, culture, curriculum, and instructional needs

  7. Stays current with state and federal requirements related to accountability, assessment, and school improvement

  8. Provides professional development, coaching, technical assistance, and resources to districts in Region 16 for the purpose of increasing student achievement through accountability, assessment, and school improvement services

  9. Assists districts and campuses with accountability, assessment, and school improvement requirements and initiatives

  10. Assists district/campus personnel with DMAC (and/or other data disaggregation programs) needs and activities

  11. Provides training, support, and coaching to districts and campuses as necessary or required

  12. Serves as a valued team member of the ESC Accountability, Assessment, and School Improvement Team, including facilitation of the Wraparound Team

  13. Provides effective, research-based instructional support for campuses in Region

  14. Communicates with districts, campuses, charter schools, TEA, and ESCs to provide effective, research-based technical assistance to improve student performance

  15. Records accurate documentation of all technical assistance provided to districts

  16. Utilizes content and pedagogical expertise to design and execute engaging professional development around best practices for successful professional development

  17. Collaborates with colleagues in and beyond the ESC to identify administrator professional development needs through detailed data analysis and self-reflection

  18. Incorporates technology into professional development and provides support to teachers with innovative strategies designed to challenge students and individualize instruction

  19. Sets, modifies, and meets short- and long-term professional goals based on self-assessment, reflection, peer and supervisor feedback, contemporary research, and analysis of student learning

  20. Manages a state or federal grant, if applicable, and follows all guidelines and timelines outlined in the grant

  21. Travels as a part of job responsibilities

  22. Maintains a functioning cell phone and is accessible through this phone as deemed appropriate by the service area director  A functioning cell phone means that it is charged, activated, messages checked, and mailbox emptied regularly

  23. Reports for work ready to perform responsibilities

  24. Performs duties that directly and/or indirectly impact student performance in Region

  25. Maintains a professional level of confidentiality regarding all ESC matters

  26. Supports the mission, goals, and objectives of the ESC strategic plan

  27. Upholds and adheres to safety rules and policies of the ESC safety program

  28. Performs professional responsibilities as required by ESC policies, processes, and procedures

  29. Manages time, calendar, and job responsibilities to meet deadlines

  30. Meets proficiency levels of required technology skills as outlined by supervisor

  31. Incorporates appropriate technology in daily work and exhibits continual growth in technologies as outlined by supervisor

  32. Performs other duties as assigned
