Job Description

Wright City R-II is seeking qualified applicants to serve as a special education para during summer school. Summer school runs from June 1, 2026, to June 26, 2026.


This position requires a substitute teaching certificate or para certificate.


Job Description


  


Position Title:      Special Education Para


Reports To:          Building Principal/Assistant Principal/Superintendent


 


Summary:  The building aide performs a variety of computer, clerical, library, classroom and building duties to support building functions.  The building aide provides general information and assistance to students and staff.


 


 


Job Responsibilities:


 



  1. Performs all assignments and duties given by building principal throughout the year.

  2. Assists teachers with students when assigned by building principal.

  3. Performs basic clerical duties, such as assisting the public, answer the office phone, make copies, take messages, and/or copy and maintain various forms as needed.

  4. Manages student behavior in a constructive manner using the behavior protocols used by the building.

  5. Enforces school policies with the students.

  6. Provides extra assistance to students with special needs.

  7. Assists in supervision duties as assigned by the principal.

  8. Assists the librarian as assigned by the principal.

  9. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with staff and the school community.

  10. Can produce accurate work with frequent interruptions and perform several tasks simultaneously.

  11. Maintains confidentiality, unquestionable integrity.

  12. Complete other duties assigned by the supervisor.


 


Qualifications:


Education and/or Experience:


 



  1. High school diploma or GED.

  2. 60+ college hours

  3. Excellent communication, organization and computer skills.

Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret documents, simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one or small group situations.


 


Mathematical Skills


Performs routine computations requiring a knowledge of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and/or percentages.


 


Reasoning Ability


Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. 


 


Physical Demands


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate and understand.  The employee is regularly required to stand, walk and sit.  The employee is regularly required to use hands and arms to finger, handle, feel and reach as well as to talk and hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, stoop, reach, twist, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Regular attendance on the job is expected.


 


 


Terms of Employment:


Terms covering compensation, benefits, and working conditions are specified by the Board of Education’s policies, agreements and approvals.  This is a nine-month position.
