About the Role
Hanwha Defense USA is seeking a versatile Shipyard Facilities & Infrastructure Engineer to support the planning, engineering, and improvement of key facilities, utilities, and operational infrastructure that enable shipyard production and maintenance activities. This role ensures the reliability, safety, and efficiency of critical industrial systems and physical assets, supporting both ongoing operations and long‑term modernization initiatives. The ideal candidate brings broad engineering experience in industrial or maritime environments, strong project management capability, and the ability to collaborate across cross‑functional teams to solve complex facility challenges.

Key Responsibilities
 • Provide engineering support for the planning, design, maintenance, and improvement of shipyard facilities, utilities, and infrastructure systems.
 • Conduct assessments to evaluate facility condition, performance, and capacity; recommend upgrades, repairs, and modernization initiatives.
 • Support the development and execution of facility maintenance strategies, including preventive and predictive maintenance and reliability improvements.
 • Lead or support facility‑related projects—scoping, budgeting, scheduling, design coordination, contractor oversight, and commissioning.
 • Partner with Operations, Production, EHS, Maintenance, and other stakeholders to ensure facilities meet safety, operational, and capacity requirements.
 • Assist with compliance activities related to environmental, safety, and regulatory obligations for industrial and waterfront operations.
 • Manage facility documentation including engineering drawings, maintenance records, plans, and technical reports.
 • Support operational readiness efforts and respond to emergent facility needs to minimize downtime and protect critical path activities.
 • Contribute to long‑range planning for infrastructure renewal, energy efficiency initiatives, resilience improvements, and capital investment programs.
 • Promote continuous improvement through data‑driven problem solving, process optimization, and implementation of best practices.

Required Qualifications
 • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Industrial, Marine, or related discipline).
 • 10+ years of engineering experience in industrial, maritime, port, shipyard, or heavy manufacturing environments.
 • Strong understanding of facility systems, industrial utilities, and infrastructure lifecycle management.
 • Experience planning and executing facility improvement projects, including contractor coordination and construction oversight.
 • Familiarity with relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements applicable to industrial and waterfront facilities.
 • Proficiency with engineering documentation, technical drawings, and computer‑based facility management tools.
 • Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to work cross‑functionally in fast‑paced operational settings.

Preferred Qualifications
 • Professional Engineer (PE) license or progress toward PE certification.
 • Experience in shipyard, naval base, port operations, or other maritime industrial settings.
 • Knowledge of energy management, reliability engineering, or industrial maintenance best practices.
 • Experience supporting capital planning, risk assessments, or long‑term facility modernization programs.
 • Exposure to project management methodologies (PMP, CAPM, or similar desirable).
