Job Description

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Operate Mercy Corps vehicles as assigned by the supervisor, ensuring the safe and timely transportation of staff, visitors, and goods.
  • Maintain accurate vehicle log-sheets in accordance with Mercy Corps policies and as directed by the supervisor based on operational needs.
  • Conduct routine pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and promptly report any maintenance requirements or issues to Transport Management/Fleet focal person.
  • Strictly adhere to all Mercy Corps safety, security, and communication protocols at all times, including during solo travel.
  • Ensure the safekeeping of all vehicle equipment, tools, first aid kits, spare parts, and accessories.
  • Keep the vehicle clean, fueled, and in a constant state of readiness for immediate use.
  • Provide support to daily logistics tasks as required, including assistance at the office, warehouse, and guesthouse.
  • During field visits, park vehicles only in designated or secure locations as directed by the supervisor, preferably within safe compounds with proper security.
  • Ensure full compliance with all security protocols, including:
  • Maintaining regular coordination with the security department during travel.
  • Sharing travel/tracking information before and during field movements.
  • Reporting incidents or suspicious activities immediately to the security focal person.
  • Avoiding unapproved stops and always prioritizing personal and vehicle safety.
  • Never leave the vehicle unattended in unsecured areas and ensure secure parking, especially during overnight stays or in high-risk environments.

SAFEGUARDING RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Actively learns about safeguarding and integrates it into their work, including safeguarding risks and mitigations related to their area of work
  • Practices the values of Mercy Corps including respecting the dignity and well-being of participants and fellow team members
  • Encourages openness and communication in their team; encourages team members to submit reports if they have any concerns using reporting mechanisms e.g., Integrity Hotline and other options.

OTHERS 

  • Conduct herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to Mercy Corps and not to jeopardize its humanitarian mission.
  • Ensure proper integration of GESI aspects into her are of work as appropriate.
  • Mercy Corps as a humanitarian agency is expected to response as and when crisis and humanitarian situation engulfs. As an MC employee all staff are expected to be part of humanitarian and emergency response in addition to their regular roles and responsibilities in such situations.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Head of Operations

FINANCE & COMPLIANCE MANAGEMENT  

  • Ensure compliance with Mercy Corps’ policies and procedures for all goods and services.
  • Ensure that functional administrative systems are established and maintained in the partners and project at the field level. • Support and orient on MC Code of Ethics and uphold Mercy Corps’ Zero tolerance of corruption policy.
Security  
  • Ensure compliance with security procedures and policies as determined by country leadership.
  • Proactively ensure that team members operate in a secure environment and are aware of policies.

Supervisory Responsibility

Accountability 

Accountable for following Mercy Corps Field Asset Management Policy, Fleet management policy, the MC Code of Ethics and MC Conflict of interest policy.   

Reports Directly To: Logistics Officer (Asset Controls and Fleet) 

Works Directly With: Operations team in Islamabad and program team 

Knowledge and Experience 

At least the Middle education with working knowledge of using a computer/MS office and internet usage. Valid driver’s license (Motorcar Jeep, having LTV is a value addition) and experience driving 4x4 Sedan vehicles. 

A minimum of 3 years’ driving experience is required. Candidates with at least 2 years of experience in a structured organizational, institutional, or professional environment will be preferred.” 

Basic understanding of English and fluency in all local languages is required. Knowledge of routes, duty stations, project areas is required. Basic Knowledge of vehicle maintenance. Good behavior with all the staff; in particular, female staff 

Success Factors 

The driver must show respect to the staff travelling with her and should be aware of the assigned area of work.
