Wilmer Writing Center Graduate Assistant

Department Name: Wilmer Writing Center
Position Title: Graduate Assistant Writing Tutor
Supervisor’s Title: Director of the Wilmer Writing Center
Session: Academic
Hourly rate: $17 hours a week during the academic year.
Average hours per week: 20

Position Start and End Dates: August 10, 2026 for the 26-27 academic year

Job Purpose: 

The graduate assistant serves as the main liaison between the tutors and the director of Wilmer Writing Center. Moreover, the graduate assistant is responsible for conducting both in-person and online tutorials for undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate students. The graduate assistant also assists in creating materials for the center, assisting the director in supervision of the undergraduate tutors, and in providing professional editing services on submitted manuscripts

Essential Duties:

  • Tutoring undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate students in writing across all disciplines
  • Conducting in-person and online tutoring (both synchronous and asynchronous) 
  • Assisting the director with creating content for and maintaining Wilmer Writing Center’s Online Writing Lab
  • Assisting the director with creating resources for tutors and tutees
  • Creating and participating in writing center events, workshops, and promotional activities
  • Edit and provide light formatting on manuscripts submitted for professional editing
  • Assisting the director in managing undergraduate tutor staff
