Lower Merion School District is seeking a key school leader within its organization: Director of Athletics and Student Activities. The Director of Athletics & Activities is a building leader responsible for planning, organizing and directing a comprehensive program of interscholastic and intramural athletics as well as student activities that promote, protect and conserve the health and physical welfare of all participants, taking into consideration the aspects of health, age and value of the program to the students involved, and reinforce the overall relationship to the academic program. The Director is responsible for ensuring compliance with all PIAA rules and regulations as well as District and school policies. The Director also promotes an environment of inclusivity and belonging by supporting opportunities for all students to participate in extracurricular activities offered by the school. This position requires visibility and it is expected that the Director of Athletics & Activities attend as many of the athletic contests and activity events as possible.
Pennsylvania certification as a Principal K-12 or Pennsylvania certification as a Secondary Principal. Successful experience as an administrator, teacher, and/or coach preferred. Must have knowledge of the overall operation of an athletic program; ability to manage PIAA athletic programs including coaches, officials, facilities, transportation, and equipment. Strong interpersonal skills with outstanding ability to communicate with students, staff, administrators, parents/guardians, and community members. Candidates must be proficient in using technology including all Microsoft Applications with knowledge/expertise in scheduling software/platforms. In order to attend as many of the athletic contests and activity events as possible, afternoon, evening and weekend time is required.
This position is 216 days per year. Applicant must have Act 34 and 151 clearances and FBI registration number less than one year old.
