Maintenance Assistant
We’re seeking a hands-on Maintenance Assistant to support building systems and resident safety in our Long‑Term Care community. The ideal candidate brings strong HVAC and plumbing skills, a proactive approach to life safety compliance, and strong critical thinking to solve issues quickly.
Key Responsibilities
- HVAC: Maintain and troubleshoot RTUs, boilers, and set up temporary heating/cooling solutions during outages or emergencies.
- Plumbing: Maintain hot water systems, mixing valves, and water temperatures; troubleshoot toilets/flush valves, floor drains, and grease traps.
- Life Safety Compliance: Support fire/life safety systems (e.g., drills, extinguishers, egress, emergency lighting) and documentation per regulatory standards.
- Preventative Maintenance: Execute PM schedules for building systems and equipment; track work orders and parts.
- General Maintenance: Minor electrical, carpentry, painting, and grounds as needed; vendor coordination and escorting.
- General landscaping including winter snow removal and summer lawnmowing.
Qualifications
- Experience: 2-3+ years in facility maintenance; healthcare/LTC/senior living preferred.
- Technical: HVAC and plumbing troubleshooting; boilers, RTUs, hot water loops, mixing valve calibration.
- Compliance: Familiarity with life safety and environmental standards for healthcare settings.
- Soft Skills: Strong critical thinking, sound judgment, urgency, and communication.
- Nice to Have: Boiler license, EPA 608, basic electrical knowledge.
- Other: Valid driver’s license; ability to pass background and pre-employment checks.
Physical & Work Conditions
- Lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs.; frequent walking, bending, and ladder work.
- Work in mechanical rooms, rooftops, and tight spaces; occasional after-hours/on‑call support.
