Job Description
Be Part of Our Next Chapter

For over almost 60 years, our solutions have enabled impactful connections between some of the world’s leading brands and their customers. And while we’ve already done a lot of work we’re proud of, we’re just getting started!

We’re a global technology company focused on creating dynamic, smart, personalised and engaging customer experiences powered by our range of digital hardware, our proprietary content management system and our industry leading signage solutions. (For example: If you’ve ordered in-store or in the drive-thru at McDonald’s somewhere in the world in the last few years, chances are you’ve interacted with our digital solutions.) We work in over 50 global markets and have 9 offices around the world, with a global headquarters proudly located in our founding home of Sydney, Australia.

Coates Group has the values of a family-owned business and the innovative spirit of a start-up, both which fuel our purpose – Creating Connections. Empowering Partnerships. Always Evolving.  Through hard work, dedication and creativity, we’ve become industry leaders who have won awards and set records while remaining focused on continual growth and evolution. We are a 2x Australia Good Design Award winner and successfully completed the largest hardware deployment in Quick Service Restaurant history.

We are curious, charismatic, authentic and we value and leverage the diversity of our crew. We are imaginers, kindness enthusiasts, experts, creators, thinkers, challengers, collaborators and over-achievers. And together, as a Crew, we are revolutionizing the way the world’s leading brands leverage technology to drive the best customer experiences.

The Director, Product Delivery leads Coates’ Product Delivery function and team, partnering closely with Product Discovery, Engineering, Delivery, and the client to translate prioritized feature requests into fully defined, development-ready solutions. This role oversees the Design and Refinement lifecycle phases, ensuring high-quality UI/UX designs, user stories, functional specifications, and technical solution definitions are produced to support efficient build, testing, and release execution. Additionally, this leader is accountable for delivery readiness, downstream quality, and operational excellence across Product Owners, Technical Business Analysts, and Product Designers. Lastly, this leader ensures that Product Owners and Business Analysts are providing the necessary leadership and direction to Engineering and QA in the Implementation, Testing & Release lifecycle.

Key responsibilities for this role
  • Lead, coach, and develop the Product Delivery and Design organization, including Product Owners, Technical Business Analysts, and Product Designers
  • Own and maintain an effective handoff and refinement process from Product Discovery, ensuring feature requests are clearly understood, prioritized, and ready for delivery execution
  • Spearhead process definition and operational excellence for the Design and Refinement phases of the SDLC, enabling consistent, high-quality delivery outcomes
  • Partner closely with Engineering and Delivery leadership to ensure scope, solution definitions, and sequencing align with technical feasibility, capacity, and release delivery commitments
  • Maintain strong expertise in Coates’ product and solution capabilities, serving as a trusted internal and client-facing leader throughout delivery execution
  • Develop an understanding of the client’s technology ecosystem and ensure solution designs align effectively within that environment
  • Establish strong quality and completeness standards for design artifacts, functional & technical specifications, and user stories, prior to development start
  • Identify trends and opportunities to improve Product Delivery practices, refinement effectiveness, downstream quality, and overall customer experience
  • Support client adoption through release-facing collaboration, including preparation for or participation in demos, training, and documentation as needed
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of team capacity and skill needs, deploying resources appropriately to meet objectives, timelines, and quality expectations

  • Qualifications and experience
  • Product Delivery assumes ownership from Product Discovery upon receipt of the approved Product Requirements Document (PRD). It ensures that the Product Owner (PO) and Business Analyst (BA) teams effectively leverage the PRD to guide Solution Refinement and the development of the Functional Specification Document (FSD) for approval.
  • Success is measured by minimizing requirement gaps between the initial discovery PRD and the final approved FSD and ensuring minimal gaps between the approved FSD and the delivered functionality thereby maintaining alignment between defined requirements and the final product outcome.
  • Product Delivery performance - % of features/releases delivered on-time and within scope, to quality
  • Design & Refinement phase improvement times: Establish a baseline, track performance over time, and set quantitative improvement targets.
  • Qualitative feedback from peers and improved alignment across teams to ensure smoother product delivery
  • Identification of risks early with mitigations to prevent disruption to program of work
