Title: Stepney Elementary 1.0 FTE Speech/Language Assistant
Position Purpose
Under the general supervision of the Speech and Language Pathologist, to develop students' skills in listening, speaking, communication and pragmatic skills.
Essential Performance Responsibilities
Maintain records as required by law.
Attend meetings and conferences and participates in staff development as directed by the supervising Speech and Language Pathologist.
Collaborate with other service providers.
Develop treatment programs for students with a variety of diagnoses to meet their individual needs, interests and abilities.
Review student's yearly progress and write progress reports and annual reports.
Familiarity with articulation disorders, receptive and expressive language disorders, fluency of speech, childhood apraxia and pragmatic language disorders.
Additional Duties
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Equipment
Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.
Travel Requirements
Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
Work Schedule
Standard staff work schedule as set forth by the building principal.
Qualifications Profile:
Certification/License:
Knowledge of assessment tools for speech-language.
Knowledge of instructional technology and assistive technology related to the needs of students with speech-language disabilities.
Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.
Education:
Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to assignment.
Experience:
Successful prior experience working with elementary students in the area of Speech and Language Pathology.
