Architect/ Project Manager – Commercial & Industrial Projects

GPD is currently seeking an Architect/ Project Manager for our Akron, OH, Atlanta, GA, Columbus, OH or Dallas, TX office locations specializing in office/ industrial/ manufacturing/ distribution projects.
 
The ideal candidate will possess:
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture and 10+ years of experience in the field of commercial architecture.
  • Experienced in developing construction documents and specifications for commercial projects including industrial, warehouse, data center or distribution center projects.
  • Knowledgeable in code and materials and methods commonly used in the industrial, manufacturing, and distribution center projects.
  • Specification writing experience.
  • Construction administration experience required.
  • Experience working directly with the client providing timely updates on project status and discussing project scope. 
  • Demonstrates a customer service focus. 
  • Ability to work within a team environment working with individuals from various offices and in various disciplines.
  • Must possess experience in coordinating with internal teams, including project planning, scheduling, and tracking.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills, professional writing skills and the ability to multi-task between several projects and priorities.
  • Some travel required.
  • Valid Driver’s License is required.
 
Responsibilities will include:
  • Outline the project approach and assist with developing fees for project proposals.
  • Lead the programming effort with the client.
  • Lead the architecture design and collaborate with internal design teams (architectural designers, engineers and consultants) to develop innovative and functional designs that meet client requirements and industry standards.
  • Coach and mentor the architectural design team through the operational and technical aspects of the project.
  • Identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them, maintaining a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Ensure all projects comply with local building codes, zoning regulations, and incorporate best practices.
  • Handle construction administration, contractor questions, and RFI responses.
