Position Description:
 

The Patient Access Representative validates and registers all patients' demographic, medical and financial information in an accurate, complete and timely manner in accordance with the departmental standards and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
• Communicate clearly and professionally with patients, families, and staff across diverse backgrounds, maintaining patient confidentiality and excellent customer service.
• Collect and verify patient demographic, insurance, and pre-certification information accurately during registration and pre-registration processes.
• Coordinate patient flow by collaborating with departments such as scheduling, bed control, and nursing units to ensure efficient routing.
• Explain hospital policies, consent forms, and insurance requirements, addressing patient or family concerns appropriately.
• Demonstrate flexibility, professionalism, and a positive attitude, contributing to a collaborative and efficient team environment.
• Resolve challenges with diplomacy, offer constructive feedback for process improvement, and embrace changes that enhance service delivery.
• Prioritize tasks, manage high volumes of registrations, and maintain accuracy and timeliness in all assigned duties.
• Perform technical tasks including assigning rooms, transporting patients, preparing charts, photocopying insurance cards, and ensuring proper documentation and signatures.
• Maintain compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and keep supervisors informed of any concerns or issues.

Qualifications:
1. Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
2. Working knowledge of ICD and CPT coding is preferred.
3. Experience in patient registration is preferred.
4. Experience in an insurance or medical office setting is preferred.
