Job Description

BGIS is currently seeking a Critical Facility Engineer (Data Center) to join the team in Harwood, ND.

Position Summary: 

The Critical Facility Engineer is responsible for maintaining important mechanical, electrical and control systems in a critical environment facility. Key job activities include delivering timely and quality client service while providing a sustainable approach to data center systems maintenance. The Critical Facility Engineer demonstrates BGIS values daily in communication with the client and other team members. 

Key Duties & Responsibilities: 

Client Service Focus

  • Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with internal and external clients. 
  • Complete client service requests in a timely manner. 
  • Respond to emergency calls. 
  • Contribute to the completion of other key initiatives as assigned.

Maintain Data Center Systems

  • Perform maintenance to ensure the highest level of efficiency without disruption to the business. 
  • Complete routine maintenance tasks in accordance with BGIS Safety Policy and Procedures.
  • Inspect buildings, grounds and equipment for unsafe or malfunctioning conditions. 
  • Troubleshoot, evaluate, and recommend system upgrades.
  • Order parts and supplies for maintenance and repairs. 
  • Request proposals for outsourced work. 
  • Monitor vendors and contractors to ensure their work meets BGIS and client standards. 
  • Accurate and timely completion of work order requests. 
  • Escalate issues to Critical Environment Facility Manager as needed. 

 Qualifications: 

  • Controls, electrical systems, and mechanical troubleshooting. 
  • Familiarity with PLC controls and industrial automation systems. 
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively. 
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. 
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills. 
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for on-site response. 

Knowledge & Skills: 

  • Ability and willingness to travel.
  • Provide personal transportation for meetings and job visits away from the office; reimbursed.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years’ experience in similar working environment with HVAC or Electrical knowledge helpful. 
  • One-year experience in specific Critical Environments position. 
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and life safety systems and equipment typically used in critical environments. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with client service focus to maintain professional relationships.
  • Ability to work both individually and contribute positively to teamwork. 
  • Critical facility procedure use and development.
  • Time Management focus to prioritize and complete work in a timely basis. 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel and Outlook preferred. SharePoint and Power BI experience is a plus.
  • Navigation, operating experience and understanding of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems, Building Automations Systems, Emergency Power Monitoring Systems and Fire Alarm Systems.

  • Cognitive skills required to work in a critical facilities environment include ability to maintain focus, communicate clearly and concisely, respond quickly to requests, follow established processes, and ability to complete tasks within targeted time frames to minimize risk of outages or damage to buildings and high value equipment. 
  • Ability and willingness to travel regionally.
  • Current valid driver’s license and ability to provide personal transportation for meetings and job visits away from the office with reimbursement. 
  • Physical ability to walk jobsites in uneven terrain. 
  • Working at heights training/certification preferred.
  • Respond to off hour emergency calls.
