Overview

This position supports the power generation fleet with a focus on Air Quality Control System (AQCS) equipment and performance engineering. This position will be filled based on experience and qualification.  Individual normally works under close supervision on a variety of projects that have specific instructions and expected results.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies opportunities for improvement and/or suggests improved methods.
  • Gathers, correlates, and analyzes specific data using established procedures
  • Performs detailed and/or routine engineering assignments involving established calculations, tests, and analysis.
  • Performs a variety of routine tasks to become familiar with the engineering methods, practices, and programs of the company.
  • Supports operating and maintenance functions with problem identification, engineering analysis, and problem resolution activities. Occasionally participates in hands on testing and troubleshooting of power plant equipment.
  • Works collaboratively with plant staff to share technical guidance, best practices, and business plan inputs.
  • Participates in external industry research groups and apply learnings to internal work practices
  • Prepares and presents reports giving conclusions of job related engineering activities.
  • Assists Engineer II, Engineer III, Principal and Consulting Engineers with large and/or complex projects, as required
  • Assists with the development of goals, objectives, budgets, programs, and procedures.
  • Assists in preparation of bids, technical specifications, and scopes of work.  Participates in the commercial process for third party work activities. Reviews vendor bids and advises management for purchase recommendation
  • Plans and controls all activities so as to provide an accident-free work place
  • Conducts work activities with regard to environmental rules and regulations.
  • Regularly reviews assignments to assure optimum efficiency and cost effectiveness
  • Occasionally directs the activities of coops, supervisors, and others as they perform various activities.
  • Performs other duties as directed by management.

Qualifications

Required Education

ABET accredited Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering Discipline

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to analyze and solve engineering problems from a business perspective.
  • Familiarity with power generation, combustion, and air quality control equipment/principles such as Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR), Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD), and Pulse Jet Fabric Filter technology is beneficial  
  • Ability to communicate technical issues and solutions to broad audiences.
  • Ability to communicate across diverse project teams.
