About the role

We are looking for a talented candidate to join the India office of DESRI, based in Hyderabad, India. The candidate will be a part of Tax team and will regularly interact with the U.S. and Hyderabad-based teams, as well as external parties. The candidate will be a part of a small, inclusive, highly skilled team responsible for supporting DESRI’s portfolio of wind, solar, and storage projects within a dynamic environment that values collaboration, thoughtful problem solving, and attention to detail.

What you'll do

The candidate is expected to primarily oversee and manage the direct tax function with additional involvement in indirect taxes. This encompasses tax compliance for renewable projects located across multiple states in the U.S., corporate entities and tax planning for transactions effectuated for different power projects within the portfolio. The candidate will be required to liaison cross-functionally to formulate, analyze, monitor and implement strategy, compliance and finance management for direct and indirect taxes. The candidate will be expected to engage in tax modeling and adopt a reviewer role for deliverables relating to accounting, management, and investor reporting, including partnership accounting, hypothetical liquidation at book value (HLBV) modeling, yield tracking, deferred taxation (ASC 740) and budget vs. actual analysis. The candidate will liaise with U.S. and Hyderabad-based deal team members, asset managers, treasury, tax team, external consultants, and tax authorities for various tax related matters. The candidate will also work on initiatives related to establishing, standardizing, optimizing, and documenting tax processes, workflows, and controls will be key.

Qualifications

  • Candidate should be a Chartered Accountant / Certified Public Accountant / Master of Business Administration (Finance), with a minimum of five years of post-qualification work experience, and can work independently with limited direction and guidance
  • Candidates should have an understanding of tax laws, and an ability to read and interpret federal and state guidance, agreements and contracts accurately 
  • Preference will be given to candidates with an understanding of U.S. federal and state taxation, including tax assessments, and experience in the energy, real estate, or financial services sectors.
