SUMMARY
The student assistant will work with team members in the Office of Communications and Marketing Services departments on a variety of marketing and communications projects. They will participate in ideation and production of content for social media from a student perspective. The student will proactively research ideas/events for showcasing Kwantlen Polytechnic University to current and prospective students, and assist with general office duties as required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist Directors, Deans and Managers with coordination of department projects.
- Interact with and engage KPU students, potential students and internal KPU Faculties and departments.
- Work closely with KPU Faculties to create multimedia content to reach current and prospective students.
- Edit content with feedback from the Communications and Marketing departments.
- Work with members of the Communications and Marketing Services teams to assist with a variety of marketing and communication projects.
- Stay up to date on events to ensure timely and accurate information for social media posting and keep up to date with other internal departments and Faculties, and the University’s other social media presence.
- Research and compile information on other University initiatives to incorporate into our communications and marketing projects.
- Research ideas/events for promotion of KPU and coordinating such events to showcase the University.
- Act as a student ambassador for the University at external events.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Working towards a diploma or degree at KPU
- Creative, energetic, outgoing and enthusiastic, and seeking to make a difference
- A strong social media user with a strong understanding of trends and a desire to learn about processes, procedures and best practices
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly with others
- Reliable, organized and detail oriented
- Problem solver, works independently and meets deadlines
- Ability to maintain a high degree of tact, diplomacy and confidentiality
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
AVAILABILITY:
Work schedule will be no more than 15 hours per week. Most shifts will fall within the following times:
Monday - Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm

Salary Information
Student Assistants are paid as per the following:
- Less than one year of post-secondary (less than 30 credits) – BC Minimum Wage
- One year of post-secondary (30-60 credits) – BC Minimum Wage plus 8%
- With a post-secondary diploma or degree – BC Minimum Wage plus 21%
