    Central Jersey College Prep Charter School (CJCP) is a tuition-free, public charter school in Somerset, New Jersey serving grades Kindergarten through 12th. CJCP first opened in 2006 with 77 students, and is now serving a diverse population of over 1,300 students and nearly 300 faculty and staff.     Bus Driver

    Responsibilities Include: 

    • Operating a school bus and safely transporting  students and staff to and from designated locations. 
    • Following assigned routes and schedules, maintaining a clean and operational vehicle, assisting students with boarding and disembarking. 
    • Adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations while providing excellent customer service to students, parents, and staff. 
    • Performing daily pre-trip inspections of the bus to ensure it is in good working condition and report any mechanical issues or accidents promptly 
    • Monitoring student behavior on the bus and address any disruptive actions in a calm, professional manner
    • Communicating effectively with school staff, parents, and administrators regarding student needs or concerns
    • Attend any required trainings and maintain necessary certifications/licenses

    Essential Duties:

    • Communicates responsibly with students, parents/guardians, colleagues, and school leadership;
    • Accounts for student attendance
    • Follows all county, state, and federal policies and procedures;
    • Follows professional ethics in all work-related activities;

    Additional Responsibilities:

    • Avoids behaviors which detract from staff morale;
    • Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator.

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

    • Proven communication and instructional strategies;
    • Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing;
    • Excellent organizational skills.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • NJ Criminal History;
    • Work authorization in the U.S.;
    • Tuberculosis Test;
    • School Bus Driving: 1 year (Required)
    • Commercial Driving: 1 year (Required)
    • Valid CDL license with P and S endorsements
    • High school or equivalent (Preferred)
    • Must provide Driver Abstract Report issued by Department of Motor Vehicles
    • Compliance with DOT physical examination and Drug and Alcohol Testing Requirements
    • Current Medical Card
    • Minimum of three (3) years' previous safe driving experience.
