Soque River Farm, part of Turner Enterprises, is a private landholding featuring first-class fishing along the pristine Soque River, one of north Georgia’s largest bison herds, and serene landscapes dedicated to regenerative farming. We’re seeking a talented General Laborer to join our dynamic team and contribute to our farm’s ongoing success.


ABOUT THE POSITION

As a General Laborer, your primary duties will center around maintenance and general operations of the farm, including care of livestock (bison), and supporting guest services. 


You will also be responsible for: 

  • Safely operating farm tractors to mow roads, clear and clean roads after storms and maintain feed trails.
  • Handling heavy equipment to clear debris in woods and create burn piles. Operating ATVs and UTVs to assist with burning.
  • Assisting in the planting, harrowing, cultivating, and spraying of various crops, ensuring optimal growth and yield.
  • Performing general maintenance tasks around the farm, including fencing, repairing structures, and keeping equipment in good working order.
  • Assisting in feeding, watering, and caring for farm animals, ensuring their health and well-being.
  • Implementing organic pest control measures and weed management techniques to maintain healthy crops.
  • Cleaning and maintaining equipment and tools. 
  • Assisting with tasks that include shopping, running errands and airport trips.
  • Must be prepared to work during the holiday season.
  • All other duties and projects as assigned.

  • A management or supervisory position

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

Essential:

  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED). 
  • Experience working in a similar role.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • This position requires operation of vehicles, and you’ll need to possess a valid driver’s license or be able to obtain one within 30 days of employment. Your driving record will need to meet the standards and requirements of the Company and the Company’s insurance provider.
  • You’ll need to present documentation establishing both identity and employment authorization within three days of hire pursuant to federal law.

Preferred:

  • Experience operating heavy equipment and ATVs/UTVs.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

On a regular basis, you can expect to:

  • Stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, dig with various tools, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
  • Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Perform physical labor for extended periods of time.

On a frequent basis, you can expect to:

  • Ride an ATV/UTV for extended periods of time on uneven, rough terrain and occasionally on roads and flat terrain while performing farm duties. 
  • Climb ladders and pipe corrals, drag and place flood irrigation dams, climb in and out of irrigation ditches, and wade in thigh-deep flowing water. 
  • Lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. 

On an occasional basis, you can expect to:

  • Lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. 

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. 


You will regularly be exposed to moving mechanical parts; outside weather conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat. You will frequently be exposed to fumes or airborne particles. You will occasionally by exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
