​About the Role

The Actuarial Associate supports the organization’s overall success by delivering actuarial expertise across a range of key functions. The Associate works closely with the WCB’s internal actuary on a daily basis, contributing to and supporting the completion of actuarial deliverables. These include assessing and managing financial risks; setting employer premium rates; valuing insurance contract liabilities and funding strategy analysis; costing proposed benefit changes; and providing both quantitative and qualitative analysis to inform organizational strategy, policies, procedures, and impacts to key partners. The Associate works closely with senior leadership within the finance team and maintains a strong working knowledge of the WCB’s investment portfolio and financial performance.

Your Experience & Skills

•    A bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or a related quantitative field.
•    Minimum of 3 years progressive experience working in the actuarial field or related fields.
•    Successful completion of actuarial exams.
•    Associateship in the Canadian Institute of Actuaries would be an asset. 
•    Strong computer skills are considered an asset including experience with Excel, Experience in Visual Basic programming, SQL coding and Power BI is an asset.
•    Experience relevant to workers’ compensation, insurance industry or consulting are assets.
