Job Summary

 

The Sr Facilities Engineer will primarily be responsible for the design, development, and implementation of projects for gas and liquid gathering systems, pipelines, and facilities for assigned assets. Serves as technical resource/expert to operations and maintenance for troubleshooting and problem-solving. Responsible for the evaluation and implementation of projects to optimize gathering and pipeline systems and facilities with strong focus on safety, environmental, compliance, integrity, and reliability.

 

The Sr Facilities Engineer will work in our Houston Corporate office and may work two (2) days a week remote.

 

Responsibilities     

 

  • Handle assignments and projects with minimal supervision and complete within acceptable time standards
  • Troubleshoots operational issues by working with all levels of personnel including operators, mechanics, supervisors, managers, etc. and devising new and innovative approaches to solve problems
  • Generates ideas for projects to optimize the gas and liquid gathering, pipeline, and pumping and compression operations. Performs economic evaluation and cost estimating for projects
  • Assist Business Development in the preliminary design and cost estimates of proposed facilities
  • Ensures that projects are designed and constructed in accordance with the company's engineering guidelines and specifications, industry codes and standards, and regulatory agency requirements to meet necessary functionality and performance requirements
  • Must be proficient in developing project budgets and controlling costs
  • Prepares appropriate documentation (such as Authorization for Expenditure documentation, cost estimates, and construction turnover packages) for assigned projects. Conducts and/or participates in field optimization and feasibility studies as well as expansion studies
  • Designs specifications including rotating equipment sizing analyses and fluid flow calculations. Uses technical software (Hysys, Pipesim) to simulate pipeline systems and processes
  • Works with company SMEs to maintain thorough knowledge and understanding of applicable DOT, OSHA, EPA, other environmental/safety regulations and company processes and procedures
  • Implements appropriate provisions into operations and maintenance procedures to assure compliance. Ensures area of responsibility is compliant with safety, environmental and other company guidelines, policies, etc.

 

 

 

 

Qualifications/Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in the design and/ or operation of oil/gas facilities
  • Knowledge of process simulation programs (HYSYS, etc), sizing of equipment and valves, hydraulic calculations
  • Familiar with API Recommended Practices, ASME and NFPA codes
  • Knowledge of natural gas pipeline, compressor, and process modeling, including use of HYSIS or similar software
  • Knowledge of oil and gas production facilities and pipeline design and analysis, familiar with industry standards, codes, practices and DOT pipeline safety regulations
  • Knowledge of electronic flow measurement, SCADA system design and implementation and other communications media used in transmitting data from the RTU
  • Knowledge of process control design, implementation, and troubleshooting

 

Desired/Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or chemical preferred.
  • Additional experience in start-up of oil/gas facilities and project management

 

The individual is required to follow all applicable safety precautions.  Work is performed almost entirely in a controlled (i.e., inside) environment and does not typically subject the incumbent to any hazardous/extreme elements; some positions may require regularly moving or transporting items weighing up to 25 lbs. around the office for various needs.  The successful candidate must be able to complete all essential physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
