Job Description

Job Title: (PT) Physical Therapist (Full-time) - The Wellness Center


Reporting Relationship: Site Director and Clinical Manager


Unit: IWU-Marion


Department: The Wellness Center-IWU Marion


Campus Location: The Wellness Center, Marion, IN





Summary of Position:    Physical therapists help patients with injuries and chronic health conditions restore their mobility, manage pain, and enhance their overall quality of life. For example, individuals seeking assistance with lower back pain, recovering from an ACL tear, or rehabilitation following surgery would consult a physical therapist. The job description for a physical therapist includes evaluating and treating musculoskeletal conditions, designing personalized treatment plans, administering therapeutic exercises, and educating patients on fitness and injury prevention strategies. Physical therapists also collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care and document progress according to state regulations.


Duties and Responsibilities



  • Evaluate and assess patients to diagnose musculoskeletal conditions and movement dysfunctions

  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient’s needs

  • Administer therapeutic exercises and manual therapy techniques to improve mobility and function 

  • Educate patients and their families on injury prevention, fitness, and home exercise programs 

  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive care 

  • Oversee the work of a physical therapy assistant 

  • Document patient progress, treatment outcomes, and comply with state regulations and reporting requirements 

  • Communicate with workers’ compensation carriers on the patient’s progress and ability to return to work 

  • Complete disability forms and the State of Indiana 

  • Other duties as assigned 


Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.






Education



  • Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from an accredited program

  • Physical therapist license from the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency


Experience



  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in an inpatient or outpatient physical therapy clinic

  • Fulfill continuing education requirements to maintain licensure
