The Sr. Business Systems Analyst serves as a technical liaison between business and engineering teams, responsible for translating business needs into detailed, engineering-ready requirements and interpreting technical solutions and constraints into clear, business-friendly communication. This role requires hands-on understanding of system architecture, data flows, integrations, and backend processes, and the ability to define system behavior through detailed requirements. The Sr. Business Systems Analyst participates in cross-functional initiatives from planning through deployment and produces technically sound requirements, documented as user stories and acceptance criteria, that are fully aligned with business objectives. Presents solutions (verbally and in writing), requirements, and outcomes to business stakeholders and engineering for alignment and validation.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Technical Requirements
Translate business needs into detailed functional and technical requirements, including system behavior, data handling, edge cases, and integration points. - System & Data Analysis
Analyze and document end-to-end system flows, including upstream/downstream dependencies, APIs, data transformations, and integration behavior. Identify gaps, risks, and impacts across systems. - Engineering Collaboration
Work closely with engineering teams to validate requirements and refine user stories. Lead requirement walkthroughs ensuring alignment before development begins. - Documentation
Produce clear, structured documentation (e.g., BRDs, functional specs, user stories) with sufficient technical detail for development and QA, ensuring consistency across artifacts. - Testing & Validation
Define UAT scenarios and expected outcomes based on requirements. Validate that delivered solutions meet both business intent and technical design. - Problem Solving & Gap Analysis
Proactively identify inconsistencies, missing scenarios, and edge cases. Ensure all requirements account for desired system behavior and constraints. - Communication
Communicate effectively with both business and technical stakeholders, with the ability to explain technical concepts in business terms and vice versa.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: Minimum
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related technical field, or equivalent work experience
Education and Experience: Preferred
- Master's degree in Engineering or Business Administration (MBA)

Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience as a technical Business Systems Analyst
- Prior experience working in Agile environments, with proven ability to independently write clear, detailed, and testable user stories and acceptance criteria
- Proven ability to translate complex business needs into clear, detailed, and technically accurate requirements that are actionable and implementation-ready
- Ability to quickly analyze, adapt, and adjust requirements based on evolving business needs
- Must possess strong technical understanding of programming and database concepts, data flows, system processes, APIs, and integrations, with proven analytical, problem-solving, and research skills and high attention to detail
- Ability to analyze end-to-end system interactions, including dependencies, data movement, edge cases, and failure scenarios
- Ability to align technical solutions with business objectives, system architecture, and integration constraints
- Experience working directly with engineering teams, leading requirements walkthroughs, and participating in technical discussions to ensure alignment
- Ability to define testable requirements and UAT scenarios and coordinate user acceptance testing with stakeholders
- Strong business analysis proficiency, with the ability to understand business processes and align solutions to business objectives
- Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams and building strong working relationships
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to bridge business and technical perspectives
