Job Description

 

Delta Health is seeking a dedicated Medical Laboratory Technician to perform a wide range of laboratory tests that support accurate diagnosis and high-quality patient care. Under the direction of the Lab Manager, you will work with blood, tissues, body fluids, and exudates using multiple laboratory disciplines—including chemistry, immunology, hematology, urinalysis, microscopy, immunohematology, and bacteriology.

 

This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, committed to accuracy, and comfortable taking full technical responsibility for lab testing from specimen collection to final result reporting.


Key Responsibilities

  • Collect and label specimens accurately.
  • Perform hematology, coagulation, special and routine chemistry, bacteriology, blood banking, urinalysis, serology, and blood gas testing.
  • Analyze blood cells and formed elements; perform chemical analysis on blood, tissues, and body fluids.
  • Handle all phases of testing, including specimen identification, technical analysis, instrument maintenance, and verification of results.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain designated laboratory equipment to ensure proper functioning.
  • Follow correct procedures when drawing blood in infectious disease units, nursery, surgery, and other specialized areas.
  • Detect errors or abnormal results and follow appropriate corrective actions.
  • Record and report results accurately, using effective proofreading and quality-check methods.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with laboratory staff, clinicians, and others within the organization.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Associate degree in chemical, physical, biological science, or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution
  • National registration by ASCP/HEW as an MLT (or equivalent), or qualifications that meet CLIA ’88 testing personnel standards
  • Previous hospital laboratory experience preferred
