    Salary: Non Classroom Certified Salary Schedule

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education, License or Formal Training:

    1.    Proper certification by the Wyoming Department of Education or Wyoming State Licensing Board for position of Guidance Counselor.

    2.    A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree awarded from an accredited college or university. 

    Knowledge, Skills and Mental Ability:

    1.    Possess knowledge of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act as it applies to students with disabilities identified under the Act.

    2.    Possess a knowledge of basic computer processes on a personal computer as well as applications in the use of a "main frame" computer and its applications.

    3.    Possess the ability to follow and successfully complete both written and oral directions.

    4.    Possess the ability to work with a variety of personality types throughout the work day and work year.

    5.    Possess sound emotional judgment.

    6.    Possess the ability to write reports of a technical nature.

    7.     Possess the ability to work with and create schedules for students as needed; track classes and graduation requirements (grades K-5).

    8.    Possess knowledge of the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and the guidance counselor's role in providing and supporting interventions in the social/emotional areas.

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT AND HOURS OF DUTY:    As per district policy.

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1.    Assists in planning and implementing a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students within the school district counselor/social worker curriculum.

    2.    Assists students to overcome problems that impede learning and assists them in making sound educational choices.

    3.    Provides individual crisis counseling and developmental counseling referred by teachers, parents, administrators, or the student himself.

    4.    Provides opportunities to make home visitations when required in order to improve school/family communication.

    5.    Develops a pro-active approach to school social work by assisting classroom instruction in self understanding and self-growth.

    6.    Provide small groups counseling when appropriate to deal with similar student concerns.

    7.    Provides a resource for classroom teachers in any and all areas that concern human behavior.

    8.    Makes home visitations for the purpose of building a healthy rapport between parents and children, parents and school, and children and school.

    9.    Assumes legal responsibility for the supervision of students on school property or in attendance at a school sponsored activities.

    10.    Assumes individual responsibilities which may be assigned by the principal and which may relate to committee work, student activities, student supervision, or other planning and professional assignments.

    11.    Maintains accurate, complete, legible, and correct records as required by law, school district policy, and administrative regulation.

    12.    Conducts oneself in a businesslike and/or task oriented manner.

    13.    Is a good employee as well as an effective Guidance Counselor.

    14.    Takes necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.

    15.    Follows all school district policies and procedures.

    16.    Performs other duties as assigned by the building principal.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  

    1.  Must be able to sit, stand and walk without fatigue and discomfort.

    2.  Must be able to lift 25 pounds and push or pull 50 pounds.

    3.  Possess visual acuity and stamina to work at a computer for at least part of the work day with a minimum of fatigue or discomfort.

    EVALUATION:  Performance of this job will be determined in accordance with provisions of the evaluation policy and procedures of the Board of Education.
