Key Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture, design, and development of Power BI dashboards, reports, and data models.
- Collaborate with onshore stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into effective BI solutions.
- Build and optimize Power BI datasets, semantic models, and reusable dataflows in both Power BI and Fabric.
- Leverage Microsoft Fabric capabilities (Lakehouse, Data Warehouse, Direct Lake, Dataflows Gen2, Notebooks) to design scalable BI and analytics solutions.
- Design and optimize data models using Snowflake as a primary cloud data platform.
- Ensure security and governance standards are implemented (row-level security, access management, workspace organization).
- Integrate Power BI, Fabric, and Snowflake with other data sources (Azure Data Lake, APIs, etc.).
- Define and enforce best practices for report performance, data modeling, and visual design.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior BI developers at offshore.
- Partner with onshore data engineering and analytics teams to ensure availability and reliability of underlying pipelines across Fabric and Snowflake.
- Stay current with Microsoft Power Platform, Fabric, and BI trends, recommending new features and approaches.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Mid to Senior level experience: 6–10 years overall in BI, with at least 3+ years working extensively in Power BI.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, Warehouse, Dataflows Gen2, Direct Lake).
- Hands-on experience with Snowflake (data modeling, performance tuning, security, and integration with BI tools).
- Strong expertise in DAX, Power Query (M), and data modeling techniques (star schema, snowflake schema).
- Proficiency in SQL and working with large, complex datasets.
- Strong understanding of BI governance, security, and lifecycle management.
- Excellent communication and ability to work effectively with distributed onshore–offshore teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in architecting enterprise BI solutions using Power BI Premium/Power BI Service, Microsoft Fabric, and Snowflake.
- Exposure to MicroStrategy or other legacy BI tools.
- Proven experience in migrating from legacy BI platforms (such as MicroStrategy, Cognos, or Tableau) to Power BI.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices, version control, and CI/CD pipelines for BI, Fabric, and Snowflake assets.
- Knowledge of complementary Microsoft Power Platform tools (Power Apps, Power Automate).
- Exposure to data visualization best practices and UI/UX design principles.
