POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for the provision of residential Adult Crisis Stabilization Unit (ACSU) services, consumer care, monitoring facility and activities during assigned shift
QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent, 2 years of in-patient experience. Psychiatric experience preferred.
SKILL SETS: Basic knowledge of MS –Office, analytical and basic math skills, decision making skills, and communication, organization and presentation skills.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIORMENTAL DEMANDS: Considerable walking, standing and participation in educational and recreational activities. Frequent hearing and talking required to communicate with consumers, guardians and professionals. Manual dexterity for written communications. Possible exposure to bloodborne pathogens, biohazardous waste and communicable diseases during day-to-day contact with consumers in the ACSU. Ability to stoop, kneel, hold and push a consumer while using safe physical management techniques. Sufficient physical strength is also needed. Must have visual acuity, accurate depth perception and physical and mental dexterity sufficient to operate an automobile safely while transporting a consumer.
JOB SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS:
- Assist RN’s, LPN’s, and LCSW’s with unit/milieu protocol.
- Provide safe, therapeutic environment with every 15 minute consumer checks.
Assist doctor’s, Qualified Mental Health Professionals, RN’s, and LPN’s with implementation of treatment plan. - Conduct consumer education groups as directed.
- Assist with admissions and discharges.
- Provides orientation to newly admitted consumers.
- Assist nursing staff with vital signs, documentation, implementing emergency procedures when needed.
- Conducts phone screenings and linkage with appropriate services.
- Assist with meals, shopping, stocking, serving and clean-up.
- Assist consumer with medication administration protocol.
- Assist consumer with Activities of Daily Living as needed.
- Transport consumers to HMH Life spring unit as needed.
- Maintain all required ACSU training/certifications including; de-escalation and safe physical management, CPR/first aid, medication assistance training, medical records training, OSHA, TB, etc.
- Maintain Public Notary Certification and assist MIW evaluations as needed with signing AOC 712’s.
- Ensures safety of all consumers in case of fire, tornado, earthquake, or other natural disaster situations.
- Documentation per Mental Health Technician protocol.
- Assist in training of Mental Health Technicians.
17. Performs other duties as assigned.
