Paraeducator - ELL/Bilingual (Spanish)
Hiring for multiple vacancies across all schools
The ELL/Bilingual Paraeducator will support students in grades K�3 by providing instructional assistance that promotes language development and academic success. This role includes working closely with classroom teachers and specialists to reinforce lessons, support small-group or one-on-one instruction, and adapt materials to meet the needs of English Language Learners. The paraeducator will help students build English proficiency while valuing and supporting their home language and culture. Additional responsibilities include monitoring student progress, assisting with classroom management, and fostering a welcoming, inclusive environment that encourages learning and growth for all students.
Qualifications:
Terms of Employment: 10-month schedule, 184 work days, 35 hours per week. Starting pay in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement is $18.41 per hour, with comprehensive medical benefit package and tuition reimbursement.
Internal Applicants: Regular employees of the Torrington Public Schools who are current members of the Paraeducators' union. In accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, "Paraeducators shall not be eligible to apply for lateral positions that become vacant after August 15th. Notwithstanding the preceding sentence, paraeducators shall be eligible to apply for promotional opportunities at any time."
