Job Purpose

Prepare and review corporate income and franchise tax related schedules and reporting to ensure quality and minimize risk of non-compliance. Understand the lease assets portfolio, tax depreciation system, and its related rules/ regulations. This position contributes to the success of tax compliance in income and franchise taxes.  Tax compliance is fundamental of Honda’s existence.

Key Accountabilities

Key Accountabilities

  • Prepare of tax schedules for income tax provision in accordance with ASU 740 and IAS 12 accurately
  • Prepare and filing of federal, state and local tax return information
  • Maintain tax calendar and prepare income tax estimate, extension and tax returns
  • Prepare tax related journal entries and perform monthly reconciliation
  • Work closely with a senior tax accountant in maintenance of the tax depreciation system
  • Process estimated corporate tax payments and tax returns
  • Support other department with periodic forecast events
  • Other tax related functions, including support of company-wide initiatives, search for process improvement and efficiency

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree, Accounting or Business major preferred
  • 5-8 year experience including minimum 3 years in the tax department of a large CPA firm or medium to large size multi-state corporation
  • Extensive working knowledge of ASC740 income tax and tax research application
  • CPA preferred
  • Proven experience in income tax preparation and compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of tax laws, regulations, and accounting principles
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple due dates
  • Proficient in tax preparation software and Microsoft Office environment (Excel, Word and Access)

Working Conditions

Work Style – 80/20 (4 days in office 1 day remote) – Torrance Location
