    Title:    High School Special Education Teacher - Low Incidence, Functional Special Education

    Location: Salina South High School, Salina, Kansas

     

    Job Purpose: To provide highly specialized learning experiences and supervision to students with significant disabilities in a supportive and positive learning environment that enables each student to develop the skills and knowledge as outlined in the Individualized Education Plan (IEP).  

    Qualifications and Qualities desired for this position: 

     
    • Current Kansas Teaching Licensure with Special Education Endorsement.
    • Exhibit a personality that demonstrates enthusiasm and interpersonal skills to relate well with students, staff, administration, parents and the community.
    • Ability to provide leadership in case managment of IEP teams for students with significant disabilities.
    • Understanding of assistive technolgy resources employed to overcome barriers created by the disablity and/or condition.  
    • Have excellent intergrity and demosntrate good character and initiative. 
    • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of child growth and development, children with disabilities, effective instructional strategies, classroom management, structured teaching, learning assessment and diagnosis, and research related to learning and children with exceptional needs.
