About Houston-Galveston Area Council 

 

The Houston-Galveston Area Council is one of the largest regional planning commissions in the country with a diverse service area of 13 counties and more than7million people. We are the pulse of our region addressing issues that cross city limits and county lines every single day.

What will I bedoing?

H-GAC, the fiscal agent for the Gulf Coast Workforce Board (GCWB), is striving to expand the reach of the region’s public workforce system to more employers and more people through targeted projects and the growth of systemwide learning and training initiatives. The Gulf Coast Workforce Board, through cooperation with local governments and H-GAC’s Human Services Department, improves the quality of life for residents across the region through our Workforce Solutions workforce system.

ü Develop high-quality professional development training sessions to support early learning providers participating in the Texas Rising Star program.

ü Present training that focuses on specific content area to engage the adult learner in experiential based learning opportunities.

ü Collaborate with external training partners to provide high-quality training.

ü Establish a process for tracking training, attendance and quality assurance of each training session.

ü Schedule, and track training for child care providers' professional development in compliance with Workforce Solutions.

ü Work with team members to develop flyers and informational material for stakeholders.

ü Development and review of reports to service providers, and local, state, and federal agencies.

ü Additional duties as assigned to meet program and Workforce Solutions needs.

ü Serve as a liaison between service providers to review communication and other collateral information.

ü Aid in ensuring programs and services are delivered in accordance with the Workforce Board’s directive and compliant with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

 

 

KeyQualifications

ü Excellent interpersonal communication and relationship-building skills

ü Experience facilitating or supporting professional development of staff training initiatives.

ü Ability to perform and complete tasks with limited supervision.

ü Ability to analyze, interpret, and present strategies, leading to successful deliverables and outcomes.

ü Proficient in the use of Microsoft 365, SharePoint and data management systems.

ü Able to work in a fast-paced environment.

 

Do you have… 

ü Bachelor’s degree in an applicable academic discipline orrelatedfield of study   

ü 3years of experienceworking with local government, nonprofit programs, school or in job related duties 

 

Preferred Qualifications

ü Bachelor’s degree in early education, or closely related field.

ü Experience facilitating or supporting professional development of staff training initiatives.

ü Familiarity with the Texas Early Childhood Professional Development System (TECPDS)
