YOUR IMPACT
The Aquatics Site Lead creates a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals while promoting and maintaining safe swimming conditions in the pool, deck, and surrounding areas in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. The Aquatics Site Coordinator assists with overseeing fellow staff, office work, programming, and other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOUR DAY MAY LOOK LIKE
No two days are the same in this role � but every day centers on ensuring aquatic programs run safely, smoothly, and consistently across sites.
- Prepare the aquatic site for daily programming and review the swim lesson schedule.
- Teach swim lessons as needed while meeting all Swim Instructor expectations.
- Support and mentor new swim instructors and serve as a role model for aquatics staff.
- Coordinate with Aquatics Site Leads and Directors on staffing and scheduling needs across sites.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as updating staff contact information, gathering grant information, and completing paperwork.
- Communicate with members and participants about program updates, cancellations, or closures.
- Remain present during programming to support staff and ensure programs run smoothly.
- Address and report incidents, safety concerns, or damaged equipment promptly.
- Foster a welcoming, inclusive environment that reflects YMCA values and supports positive member experiences.
Your leadership supports staff success, enhances the experience for members and participants, and helps the YMCA deliver high-quality programming that builds confidence, skills, and community.
SCHEDULE & COMPENSATION: 2 Positions
Position 1: Alpine Pool
Seasonal, Part-Time, Non-Exempt
Wage: $15.75 per hour
Season: Most programming occurs mid-June through early August. Staff are expected to be available for the full season, with some pre-season preparation and training as needed.
Schedule: Primarily weekday daytime and evening hours with some Saturday programming. Schedule may include working at multiple aquatic locations. Fridays are make up days in the event of weather cancellations throughout the week.
Position 2: Sand Park Pool
Wage: $15.75 per hour
Season: Most programming occurs mid-June through early August. Staff are expected to be available for the full season, with some pre-season preparation and training as needed.
Schedule: Primarily weekday daytime and evening hours with some Saturday programming. Schedule may include working at multiple aquatic locations. Fridays are make up days in the event of weather cancellations throughout the week.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum age of 21
- 12 months of Swim Instructor experience preferred
- Certifications required: Basic Life Support or Professional Rescuer CPR/AED, Basic First Aid, and Emergency Use of Medical Oxygen
- Current YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor or equivalent preferred
- Current YMCA Lifeguard or equivalent preferred
- YMCA�s I Hear You: Service with CARE to be completed
- Complete Supervisor Essential Series prior to season start
- Ability to maintain certification-level physical and mental readiness
- Must be able to work the entirety of the 8-week offsite season including Harkins
- Current Praesidium Academy trainings
